E’ il paese emergente nel panorama del turismo mediorientale, una meta sorprendente sia per la bellezza incomparabile dei suoi paesaggi che per l’indole pacifica e per il senso dell’accoglienza dei suoi abitanti i quali, grazie alla politica illuminata del Sultano, hanno raggiunto una qualità della vita tra le più alte al mondo. L’Oman possiede tutto quello che può fare sognare il viaggiatore alla ricerca di luoghi ancora autentici e stimolanti. I suoi panorami sembrano affreschi appena abbozzati, impervie montagne da cui emergono wadi grandiosi ed oasi verdissime nelle quali gli antichi villaggi cercano la via della modernità. Il grande deserto di Rub El Khali, con le sue immense dune dorate, è destinazione imprescindibile per chi voglia ancora provare il gusto forte del viaggio estremo ma, allo stesso tempo, è diventato tappa di facili escursioni in fuoristrada. Tra i gioielli che il paese deve ancora svelare agli occhi del turismo vi sono le sue sterminate ed immacolate spiagge: centinaia di km di coste in cui deserto incontra il Mare Arabico, oasi ecologiche nelle quali molte specie marine trovano qui un rifugio sicuro. Il periodo ideale per un viaggio In Oman è senza dubbio tra Ottobre d Aprile quando clima è secco ed ottimale, con temperature diurne comprese tra i 23°ed i 28°. Il clima è di tipo desertico, con estati molto calde e secche nell’interno del paese (si superano i 40°) e forte umidità lungo le coste. Il sud del paese, la regione del Dhofar, è interessato dalla presenza del monsone che, tra giugno e settembre, porta piogge che, con grande sollievo degli Omaniti, rinfrescano le temperature.
CONSIGLI DI VIAGGIO
Il viaggio in Oman presenta diverse opportunità di scelta fra diversi itinerari e soggiorni. Il tour classico segue un percorso che tocca, partendo dalla capitale Muscat, le località di Nizwa, Wahiba (il deserto) e la costa di Sur/Ras Al Hadd: seguendo questo tracciato si incontrano i paesaggi più spettacolari e famosi, i villaggi di fango di Al Hamra e Birkat Al Mauz, le aspre gole del Jebel Shams, i mercati tipici di Sinaw, Nizwa e Ibra, le fortezze di Jabreen, Nakhal e Bahla, le dorate dune sabbiose del deserto di Wahiba, il santuario delle tartarughe a Ras Al Jinz. Per ammirare appieno le straordinarie bellezze naturali che il paese offre è indispensabile l’uso del fuoristrada 4×4, da sempre impiegati nei nostri itinerari. Un altro percorso affascinante è quello che segue la rotta della “Via dell’Incenso” nel Dhofar, una regione antichissima nel sud del paese, sede di popoli dediti alla coltivazione e al commercio di questa pianta dalla resina così preziosa: i siti archeologici presenti nella zona “raccontano” l’epopea di questa civiltà i cui ambienti naturali sono molto diversi dal resto del paese. La penisola di Musandam rappresenta qualcosa di unico nel turismo dell’area, un’enclave omanita all’interno del territorio degli Emirati Arabi, strategicamente posizionato sullo stretto di Hormuz. Qui è possibile effettuare meravigliose crociere con le tipiche imbarcazioni, navigando tra i fiordi e le insenature della penisola, ammirando i branchi di delfini che popolano quei mari.
L’Oman offre anche la possibilità di straordinari soggiorni balneari in un mare assolutamente incontaminato. Gli hotel sono concentrati in due zone del paese: nell’area di Muscat vi sono diversi resort di 4 e 5 stelle come nella bellissima baia di Barr Al Jissah o lungo gli arenili sabbiosi della zona di Barka, nella quale vi sono anche strutture attrezzate per gli amanti del diving; all’estremo sud, nella regione del Dhofar, intorno alla città di Salalah sono nate diversi complessi turistici direttamente posizionati sull’Oceano Indiano, facendo però attenzione ad evitare il periodo estivo monsonico.
